Roggip

It's not quite Monday, but close enough. I didn't manage to finish this one yesterday. It doesn't matter, as long as I work every day, I'm golden. Just like today's Zvery: Roggip.

Roggip is inspired by the bubble eye goldfish. I swear there will never be a better design than what nature already has ready for us. Look at these guys in the reference picture. They are hilarious. I wanted a creature that looked like it was holding its breath while jumping through space and these guys fit perfectly. It was really tough to get the expression right. I hope I communicated it well enough. Overall, it turned out alright. I'm not too satisfied. It looks a bit simple. I think what is missing is "second level details" or something like that. I read something akin to that somewhere. Basically, first level is the overall shape, which as you can see is what I started with. Then I immediately skipped to third level details adding scale texture. But I think I should have added some other larger things that hopefully shouldn't alter the shape too much, for example some fins or extremities. I guess the goggles and would be second level, but it needs more probably. Keep in mind this is my head cannon, I have no idea if it works that way. It seems intuitive enough though. Lesson learned! Next time I need to add other structures to the creature that don't alter the overall shape, but break it up.

Look at this dood. I can't.

Anyway, until tomorrow, probably, hopefully. It seems that I am simply taking more time in general, though.
