SO-7
Another day, another Zvery in the cards. Today, I was really not in it. I think there's no need for me to pretend that I am always at 105% motivation. Obviously, I am human, as far as you know. Unlike SO-7, which is a gaseous, unstable monster.
Now that I am looking at the gif, I think I went in the wrong direction. The first few steps were a little better. Overall, I like the idea of the design: the hint at molecular structure which is keeping the gas inside and the general vibe of the thing. I started with Kryppuk for inspiration but quickly devolved into my own thing. The background also turned out pretty eerie, which is great because I used a new technique due to laziness and time pressure. I think the most problematic aspect are the colors. This is one which I will definitely rework when I am done with the set, but I am actually looking forward to it, as I think the idea has some potential. The card itself could be a fan-favorite. Why? Because Simon and I are on completely opposite ends on the emotional spectrum when it comes to this card. That's a great sign there's something good about the card. Well, I guess at least. Mark Rosewater says: "If everyone likes your game, but no one loves it, it will fail." Strong feelings good.
