Borboa

Today's artwork sadly doesn't have a gif because Krita does something I do not understand, and I  did not have the mental capacity to figure it out (I tried). This is Borboa:

Edit: Animation just started working for some reason:

It is a radioactive Gobi Jerboa, perhaps one of the cutest animals I've ever seen. The "bor-" in Borboa stands for boron, which is a radioactivity absorber. First I wanted it to be completely enveloped in scales, but it proved too time-consuming, so I went with this.  It looks alright. And the ears are inspired by the Parachute plant--IT'S NOT BROCCOLI, OK?  It's an organ to collect ionizing radiation to perform artificial photosynthesis. I guess I should've done more shading or detail there, but I'll maybe do that after finishing the set. It took a really long time even though it looks very simple. Overall, I am not satisfied. It looks more like a broccoli rat than anything else. But them's the breaks of trying to push out one a day.

Also by posting it in original size, I have realized I need to zoom out more often.

The problem I've noticed with the current workflow is that the more effort I put into designing the creatures, the less pixelart I actually do, and vice versa. It was fine when I did a glowing chick or plasma snail which are pretty straight forward.  Now, I want to take it at least a little step up. So here's what I'll do. I'll take a day where I plan the creatures ahead instead of doing an artwork, so that when the day arrives I can just start doing the actual art. I will try that either tomorrow or on Friday.
