Augmenting Reality

Staying at home for the last 5 weeks I have come to the sudden realization that reality sucks. Instead of sitting in my room watching Netflix, I want to sit inside a Spaceship. Instead of going outside for a walk, I want to explore strange planets and unknown worlds. I want to experience my world in a new light.  If you still do not see where I am going with this, I am of course talking about augmented reality.

Honestly AR is the shit! For me, no other technology is more exciting than this. Walking through the physical world, reimagined in a new and exciting way. Or playing new crazy sports together with your friends in the real world! Nothing would be cooler to me.

Naturally the first thing I do is head to the app store and search for ar games. But sadly, everything looks gimmicky or really experimental. Nothing sparked my interest. (If you have something please do share).
Then, as my second action I fire up unity, download AR Foundation, and, after only a minor headache of about 20 minutes, I finally have everything running. It is amazing placing a sphere on the ground and seeing it wobble. This alone fascinates me so much that I can hardly wait to see what else there can be done. Next, I take some of our characters, throw them in there and let them walk around for me. After taking selfies with them and inspecting them in every little detail, I try to move on to bigger things. Maybe even converting you into the dancer.
This is where I currently stand. I am hoping to generate some worlds and let the players walk around in them. But sadly there is a lot of fighting with unity/arcore involved and I am not sure if it can be done already, or if I can do it. Since there is nothing else to do right now, I will definitely keep trying and I hope that you will be able to walk or dance through our 3D worlds in 3D space.

If not now, you will be in 2 years. That’s a promise!
